Hello! I’m Roxanne Meldrum
PT/ATC
Growing up in southeastern Michigan, my career began in High School, spending four years as the boys’ basketball student athletic trainer. I continued this path, attending the University of Toledo, earning a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and becoming Certified (ATC) in 1994. I continued my higher level education by attending the Medical College of Ohio and graduating in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy. My first job out of college was at a small community hospital in rural Ohio. I’ve worked in outpatient orthopedics from the start, moving to New Hampshire in 1998. In 2008, I completed a fellowship in manual therapy at the Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy in Woburn, Massachusetts. I have experience working with a wide variety of orthopedic injuries in patients of all ages. I have taught in a variety of settings including working as a lab instructor for Physical Therapy classes at the University of Findlay and teaching Pregnancy in Motion classes at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. Currently, I teach aquarobics (aerobics in deep water) classes at Hampshire Hills Athletic Club. I’ve been a guest speaker for garden clubs, quilting groups, and a Parkinson’s group, teaching on a variety of topics. And I teach virtual and in person workshops focused on injury management and prevention.
My areas of clinical interest include low back and neck pain, foot and ankle mechanics, dance and sports medicine, teaching healthy movement patterns, and injury prevention.
As an orthopedic Physical Therapist since 1996, my experience has taught me that while Physical Therapy is an effective approach to find the cause of pain and treat it, Physical Therapy’s most powerful benefit is the effective correction of body mechanics to make the wholistic changes necessary to prevent reinjury. Therefore, I started PT Health Academy to offer a novel approach to care, emphasizing instruction of proper mechanics to prevent common injuries from daily tasks or exercise. Contact me today to see what Physical Therapy can offer you.

A higher level of service
- Immediate care because I don’t need a referral or insurance authorization (which can take up to two weeks) to work with you.
- One on one care with the same Physical Therapist every treatment.
- Appropriate care based on your condition and needs, not what insurance companies dictates. Often, just one hour long appointment per week vs. 2-3 times per week recommended by typical clinic care.
- Along with exercise handouts, I also provide a written review of any recommendations or information we covered together so you are always clear on what to accomplish between sessions.
- I’m always available to you through our patient portal if you have questions or are having trouble between visits. I appreciate updates to ensure you are making the progress you expect between appointments.
What can you expect from Physical Therapy with PT Health Academy?
Your first session will start with a thorough evaluation with an explanation of findings. Then I’ll teach you any self management or activity modification strategies that will help you make immediate improvement in your symptoms.
Physical Therapy treatment consists of (1) education (ie. proper lifting technique, how to protect your injury, etc.), (2) exercise prescription, and (3) hands on techniques including massage, joint mobilization, and stretching. My approach is uniquely mechanical thanks to my year long fellowship training at the Institute for Manual Therapy in Woburn, Mass. This training gives me the skills to assess and treat abnormal limitations or excess movement/instability in joints that might be contributing to pain or injury.
Have Low Back Pain?
How I can help your low back pain when you want to get back to activities:
- Thorough evaluation getting to the cause of why you hurt and learning what factors are contributing and need to be addressed.
- Self management techniques – learn what to do when symptoms flare.
- Body mechanics instruction – learn how to move in ways that use the back the way it was designed (i.e. squat vs. bend) to protect structures trying to recover and develop healthy back habits.
- Treatment of symptoms – utilizing various techniques including joint mobilization, massage, and traction to promote a faster recovery.
- Exercise prescription – a personalized program to address deficits (including weakness, shortened muscles, coordination dysfunction) contributing to the problem.
- Home Program Recommendations – therapy strategies you use at home to get you moving and feeling better faster.
There is no other profession appropriately trained and licensed to offer this comprehensive approach.
