Dance Medicine Physical Therapy in Amherst, NH

Dance injuries can be especially frustrating. Pain impacts your energy, your technique, and your ability to participate at your best level. Whether you’re dealing with a nagging injury or something that suddenly stopped you in your tracks, working with a physical therapist who understands the demands of dance matters.

At PT Health Academy, I provide dance medicine–focused physical therapy for dancers who want to recover safely, move with more control, and return to class, rehearsal, or performance with confidence.

Physical Therapy That Understands Dance

Physical therapy for dance
Injuries often relate to turnout mechanics, pointe work, hypermobility, repetitive loading, and technique demands that aren’t addressed in generic rehab programs.

As both the owner and physical therapist, you’ll work one-on-one with me at every session. I take time to understand how your injury is affecting your dancing and your training schedule, working with you to get you back as quickly and safely as possible. With training in dance medicine, orthopedics, and sports medicine, I assess injuries in the context of dance technique, alignment, control, strength, and movement quality—not just the painful area.

Care begins with a thorough evaluation so you understand what’s contributing to your symptoms. Treatment often includes hands-on manual therapy, dance-specific strengthening, movement retraining, and guidance around technique, posture, and load management. The focus is steady progress that supports recovery, self management, and long-term performance.

Common Dance Injuries I Treat

I work with dancers of all levels managing a wide range of dance-related injuries, including:

  • Foot and ankle injuries (sprains, tendinitis, stress reactions, bunions)
  • Achilles and posterior tibial tendon pain
  • Hip pain, snapping hip, and turnout-related issues
  • Knee pain and patellofemoral symptoms
  • Low back pain
  • Pointe and pre-pointe readiness concerns
  • Overuse injuries from rehearsals or performance seasons
  • Joint instability and hypermobility in dancers
If pain or instability is affecting your ability to train or perform, dance-informed physical therapy can help clarify next steps.

Do you have flexibility or technique goals you are struggling to reach? I can assess what factors are holding you back and help you with a targeted program towards better performance.

A Supportive, Individualized Rehab Experience

Dance injuries often require a more thoughtful pace. Sessions are individualized and adjusted based on how your body responds, with attention to control, tolerance, and recovery—not pushing through pain.

This approach is especially helpful for dancers who are hypermobile, injury-prone, or returning after repeated setbacks.

Focused on Confident Return to Dance

My goal is to help you feel strong, stable, and confident as you return to dancing—whether that’s class, rehearsal, competition, or performance. That means understanding your body, improving movement quality, and building trust so you can dance with more style, less fear and fewer setbacks.
